Market News & Headlines >> USDA February Supply/Demand Report Expected

USDA’s chief economist said on Friday that he expected the agency would release its monthly crop supply/demand report as scheduled on Feb. 8, if USDA offices reopen on Monday.

More information regarding other key crop reports that were delayed due to the partial U.S. government shutdown "will be forthcoming ... once all USDA staff return to work," USDA chief economist Robert Johansson told Reuters on Friday in an email.

USDA will skip its January supply/demand report and include delayed data in the Feb. 8 report, Johansson said.

Johansson also said he expects the USDA to hold its annual outlook forum as planned on Feb. 21 and 22, unless USDA's funding lapses again before that date.

USDA offices will be open on Monday after President Trump later on Friday signed a temporary spending bill that funds the federal government for three weeks, ending the partial government shutdown after 35 days.
