Of note:
- Corn: National good to excellent condition down another point in this week’s report. North Carolina (-9) has another big negative week, Pennsylvania (-9), and Colorado (-7) are this week’s biggest changes. Harvest progress is at 7% complete nationally, with harvest moving up into some of the corn belt states.
- Soybeans: National good to excellent condition down another point, with a lot of red on the weekly change table. It is somewhat typical for conditions to fall this time of year, but with a lot of the reported area not seeing much rain in August. Many states are now well below their 5-Year Averages. Harvest Progress is well underway in the south.
- Winter Wheat: No big delays in planting yet. Slightly behind the 10-Year Average and Last Year, but still within the 10-Year Range.
- Cotton: Good to excellent condition, down 2 points nationally. Virginia down a whopping 18 points, and Mississippi down 9. Other than that, some good improvement in South Carolin (+8) and Arizona (+6). An increase of 1% in national harvest progress, up to 9% complete, 1% better than the 5-Year Average.
