Crop Progress – 5/11/2026

Corn

Corn planting progress hits 57% for the week ended May 10. Some notably ahead states include: Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. All of which are at least 14% ahead of the 5-Year Pace.

Soybeans

Soybean planting continues at a record pace, with Iowa moving into the green at 12 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average. The Mississippi Delta, Tennessee, and Kentucky are each nearing completion for 2026 planting.

Nationally, planting is now 13 percentage points ahead of the 5-year pace after advancing 16 points this week, as producers continue making strong progress.

Wheat

U.S. winter wheat conditions fell 3 percentage points this week, with major producing states Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma each declining more than 5 points. Montana improved 10 points, moving out of our red category. Winter wheat headed reached 61% nationally, well ahead of the 5-year average, with Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma running 37, 33, and 14 percentage points ahead of the average, respectively.

Spring wheat planting remains near the historical pace, running just 2 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average.

Cotton

Cotton planting continued to advance this week, up 8 percentage points from last week and remaining 1 point ahead of the 5-year average.

Rice

Rice planting reached 84% complete nationally this week. USDA’s second rice condition report of the season showed declines in all but two major producing states. Despite the pullback, overall conditions remain strong, with the U.S. crop rated 73% good-to-excellent.
